Making my 800 gal bigger.

Wow! Its looking really good!! The wood is awesome!

Thanks, but is the wood going to kill my fish? I can't seem to find any info that states that it will....
I shouldn't have said any thing :banhim: What kind of wood is it ?

Thanks for the replies about the wood, I did strip all of the bark off of it as it was suggest many times by a few people I know and by a few people on line. It came off fairly easily :) It's maple :) Also a little update about the tank: It's drained, the cross bucks are painted with drylok and all the jets are in so we're ready to start decorating! Since my wife let me sleep in yesterday I'm letter her sleep in today while I post progress :) Here's a slide show of the progress of the progress! Just click on it :)

No slide show :( Glad its coming together well bro !

I was not being facetious. I just realized that post could be seen that way possibly.

The maple will not harm your fish. It will last longer if you allow it to dry out and "cure" for some time before you place it in the water. Depending on the thickness of the wood this can take several months. Stripping off the bark helps to keep the tank cleaner.

Hmmn... That sucks... Here it is again?

It’s been a long time comin’ but the fish are in! The tank is full and murky… That’s to be expected… I jusr fired up the filter so hopefully by the morning it will clear up. I had to temporarily put filter pads in but it should work until I’m able to get the correct ones in. The temperature in the tank is only 71* and I’ve got the thermostat set at 78* so hopefully that will warm up by the morning too. We took a lot of pictures so here’s a slide show again for you.

Once the deep end was full with water from the pond I started to stock the tank and the first fish to venture into the rest of the tank was a female jaguar cichlid. Soon after it seemed everyone wanted to be up there. LOL The only fish I haven’t seen yet is the larger of the two iridescent sharks, but I expected that…
