Oblongshrimp, would you happen to have the scientific name of Indian Zebra shrimp or is it just Caridina sp.? I guess that goes for Sulawesi shrimp as well, I'm a little confused because many species of Caridina shrimp with strikingly different coloration (which I'm assuming breeds true, but of course I could be wrong) seem to simply be labelled Caridina sp. Does that just mean no one has bothered to classify them yet, or is there some sort of governing body that decides these things?

I guess the Caridina from SE Asia (Indonesia and Malaysia...does Sri Lanka count as SE Asia, it's a little further west?) all like softer water.

Unfortunately many of the species in the Caridina Genus are as yet not officially named or described by science so we wait....

My Malawa Shrimp are breeding like crazy and I indeed do have young in the tank now. I'll try for some photos...
