Dimidiochromis compressiceps
We had quite a few in the store. The males kept on selling while the females sold but at a much slower rate. It all was because of the coloring. When the dominant male turned blue...WOW!!! very impressive. While the gold coloring of the females was nice.
Right now we have a set of 3 for sale for $100. 1 male and 2 females. These fish are getting quite large and can truly hold there own.
Ours are kept in the tank we call the "s.o.b." tank because of the inhabitants that are in it.
The Dimidiochromis compressiceps are truly the bosses of the tank. There are some very large bumblebees in there and they have learned very quick not to mess with the big boy or his girls...some however didn't learn fast enough.
The males will get upto 25cm's the females around 15 to 20 cm's.
Either way you need a large tank with some tough tankmates. They seem to spend most of their time in the mid to top range of the tank and like to hover with quick spurts of excelleration every now and then. They hunt very well.
Very cool fish. If I was ever to switch from CA/SA to African these guys would be my new tankbusters.

I have some of these, too. My biggest is a 9" or 10" beautiful male in my 180 at work.
I have not found these fish to be all that aggressive. The don't get bullied too much, but I don't see them owning the tank, either.
I got mine to help by predating on fry that are overrunning several tanks, but I must have bad luck. My comrepssiceps are pretty inept predators...
Cool fish, top/middle swimmers, and they need a big tank. Even a 75 might be a bit cramped for them.
