I bought juvies from 2 Ebay vendors and some other fish from Florida and got this tank full. The Red Empress and the peacocks spawn and some of the babies have survived in this 75 gallon. I have a Amiracle trickle filter at 600gph and I also have a twin biowheel filter. These fish can really build up some crud in the filter. They were fed mostly NLS and Omega one foods for color. I am still working with my camera to get better photos.

I think I have one Super Red empress and the Higga Reef have not assumed the male coloration. The juvie Red Empress have good genetics but the Aulonocara juvies may be mixed species. Most are eaten. I have tons of those crazy small snails in the gravel that turn it. It's amazing that so many large fish can co-exist. Tom
 
That's a lot of nice fish. No aggression issues? (is this tempered with the sheer number of fish?)
 
You got it! Some of the males will build spawning pits and get aggresive but there are too many fish to fight so they give up. Most were introduced as juvies in December, 05. Some Malawi Haps can crowd nicely. I did have 2 male Eureka Reds die in earlier battles with the dominant Eureka Red. Live and learn!

Thanks, they are really enjoyable. If you don't want any spawn then you could go with an all male hap tank. Fish will cost more though because they are cheaper as unsexed juveniles. It's nice to watch them change though from juvenile to breeding males. Females are dull.
