Malawi time!

Ah yes, I remember my first african tank...it was much like yours. :)

Not a bad selection, you may find over time that the johanni will be too much for the others to handle...but only time will tell. I was thinking a black background would look good on that tank, have you thought of putting on on? :)

BTW, i would becareful leaving your rocks stacked like that.....you will find the fish will start digging and topple those rocks in no time flat. ;)

Unfortunately, one of the johanni has already passed. I saw a little tail rot when i first put him in, so i quarantined him right away. He didn't make it through the day today. :( The others seem to be ok, but definitely more shy than the Labs or the Aceis.

I was going to put a black background on it, but I forgot to pick one up when I was buying supplies. I buy supplies and such at That Fish Place, which is a 40 minute drive from here, and I didn't feel like going back, so I just set it up without one. It doesn't bother me all that much really.

As for the digging. I used a fairly coarse gravel. I figure it'll be some time until they can get even one of the smaller chunks into their mouths. By the time they grow that much, I'll probably have rearranged the tank a few times :)
