Okay and this guy was like this when we got him....but willing to do something to help if we can.

What are your water parameters? Frequent water changes can help. Your plastic plant looks a bit sharp (the green 1). Could be part of the problem.

Thank you everything is normal or good using a picture. Water changes about every 5 days. He came home with the damage, just trying to see how to speed up the healing. They are great, love the personalities!

I would say watch plastic plants, they can cause problems with long, flowing fins getting caught and torn/ripped.

And if there is damage, you really cannot do better than good, clean water, assuming tap water is good and will not cause problems (If so they should be dealt with) then frequent and large water changes can help immensely, Isolating or quarantining can stop other fish causing problems too.
 
Thank you, he doesn't have any new damage for sure. Just what he came with. He's still looking like his normal grumpy self!
