male or female dempsy?please help

well I was given this JD . When I got it he/she was in a TEN gallon tank at a size of 8 or better inches. He/she is now in a 75 gallon with his tank mate a very large pleco that was also in the ten gallon tank. I am wondering if it is a male or female . I have read that the males dont have blue on the gill plates and they have longer pointed fins. Well my question arises because it has long flowing pointed fins but has blue on the bottom of the gill plates and around the mouth.

I'm gonna say female. Good for you for rescuing them from a 10G tank!

Has a lot of Male features. A better shot would be able to tell better. Females usually don't have that much gurth.

Well its girth makes me wonder if it was stunted due to being in such a small tank? This poor fish spent its life in a ten gallon tankwith lots of big rocks! It could barley turn around. anyway the features were confusing me too.
what kind of shot would be better for telling the sex? I will try to take a few more shots maybe I can get a better one. I am new to this camera and not very good with it yet LOL

male all though theres a lot of blue on the gill plate the body shape is taller compared to a torpedo shape the females have

I am also going to say Male. Females usually just don't get that bulky and large. I have seen males with blue on the gill plates.
