After finding out yesterday I have 2 female kribs, I went out and bought a hopefully male krib - the person in the store was 90% certain it's a male.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks

Ian.

It's a male like mine :) 100% My lfs had difficulties catching him.
I had two females at first and now a pair, he will pair off soon.

Congrats! Now you have a male!

No, not yet.
One of the females is hanging around him a lot and 'shaking' - but he seems to be ignoring her.
The other female - the one I thought was male - is hiding all the time, and being chased by the other 2.

Ian.

Hmmm... those may be signs of the beginning of a pair formation and an unwanted guest for that establishing bond. Keep an eye on them; maybe you will have to remove the unwanted female. But by now, just watch them carefully.

Def a male. Have fun once they get busy. I had never kept these fish before I bought a mated pair. Absolutely my favorite fish. We just had babies and they are free swimming now. Mom and Pop take turns taking the little ones for walks. so funny to watch. But man, if anything gets near their 1/2 of the tank... bammmm. So if you have any sensitive fish be warned. The Kribs can be meaner than snot when it comes to protecting their babies (they even attack my hand and the gravel cleaner).

You might want to get rid of that other female since when the other two pair off they will eventually kill the lone female.

I say that you have two males.

The first one had pointed fins, a narrower body, and his coloration was that of a male.

It explains why he is hiding. Compare the two pictures of suspected males and you will see no differences.

I'm not trying to be harsh, but you will end up with a dead krib. I did the same thing with mine, except I got one out in time.
