So i just got back from my local Petco and my fish guy (the only person i trust in my town) always walks me around showing me all the deals. but today i hit the jackpot i got a Instant Ocean Saltwater Aquarium Kit from Marineland for $1 normally $159.99. its a 12 gallon tank not sure if its big enough to do salt water, but ive never done salt before. either way im sure i could always use it for fresh!!!!!!!!

wait did you say one dollor wow, is it the elcips tank? if so it not ideal for a salt water tank but you could do a nano reef in it probably. i say probably because i'm not sure what lighting that thing comes with you most likely will need to upgrade that for reef. ether way good deal man.

it is the eclipse and the lighting is one 50/50 compact fluorescent light
 
nothing wrong i looked it over good plus i hope my guy would not do me wrong

well if it's CF's you might be able to do a a nano reef, what wattage does it have? also does it use the standard eclipse filter?
 
i believe the wattage is 20 Watt and its a standard bio wheel
 
mm might need more light but you can probably get away with some softies (not an expert haven't had a salt tank is 2 years). also that filter isnt going to be ideal but you can prably use part of it just don't use medial and us it more for the water move ment if you go salt water. personally i think it's an ideal set up for a planted tank.
