I have a 50g reef and I was wondering how hard mandarin fish are to keep. They look so cool and aren't that expensive but I hear they can be hard to feed.

Your comments are appreciated

Mandarin fish should stay in the ocean, they are very hard to keep alive, unless you have access to live pods, etc... there prefered food, you almost have to have a seperate tank to grow there live food to keep them alive, hardly worth it, although a beautiful fish(wish they liked flake food...lol)

you could probably manage one in a well established 50. As Mauser ,"welcome to a.c.by the way :)', said you may have to set up a fuge to provide them with extra pods. Just avoid any other fish that will eat pods and give them extra habitat by doing things like l.r. rubble piles, a fuge etc. They really aren't hard to keep alive if you can feed them properly. I'd wait until your tank if from 6-8 months old though to give your pod population time to mature.
