Mandarin

HistoryGirl--nope--a 2 gallon tankis inadequate, and won't support their food needs.

However--the trigger is unlikley to bother a mandarin. Those bright colors indicate a thick, sticky slime coat that tastes awful--most predators leave them alone. I think mandarins are well suited for aggressive tanks that have enough live rock, simply because very few predatory fish compete for pods. I had my mandarin in with a picasso trigger, a volitan lion, and a snowflake eel with no problems. The mandarin and eel would hang out together, and the trigger and the lion completely ignored the mandarin.

Do you guys think a madarin would do ok in a little 3 gallon that has some VERY succulent live rock :p (meaning a GREAT supply of copepods)? I ask this because I don't want to put him into my 55 gallon where my Picasso Trigger might eat him! Will there be enough room for him if its JUST him?

Yeah shouldnt be a problem..........if you have a 55 gallon sump with live rock.
:thud:

I was just worried about the Picasso Trigger because he bullied my yellow watchman goby to death. Maybe I'll try it, since, as you said, the mandarins colors are quite defensive.
