When i recently re-aquascaped my tank i took a large piece of live rock out and placed it on a towel, when i put it back in moments later i found a few of these (Amphipods) on the floor i thought I'd put them all back in but unfortunately this one didn't make it alive so i took a pic.

Yeah!

I have scads of those. Like little shrimp.

Amphipods. Now I have a name for them too.

When I 'cut the grass' I end up throwing out about a hundred each time. I wish I could avoid it but whattagonnado? I can spend an hour picking them out.

Understandable. Unfortunately for them, they seem to meet an untimely demise in my nano tank between the ends of my Mag Float glass cleaner.:(

Take them as a good indicator of a healthy establishing tank.:)

I have a Mag glass cleaner that i don't touch and it has a lot of very small/young ones on it, i consider it to be a nursery for them before they become Mandarin food.

Ah, I see... they merely took the opportunity to make a run for it thinking it was low tide! Poor suckers, tide never came in again, but they avoided your Mandarin ; ).

hahahahaha I love the pictures.
