About a week ago I added 6 Margarita snails to my reef tank. They are the only inhabitance besides a few coral and around 45 lbs of live rock. Today while doing a water change I noticed about 20 tiny white and red snails, they where about half the size of a pin head, round (not cone shaped) and has a spiral pattern, almost like one of those spinning barbers sign. Did my snails breed? Or where they introduced by something I added? The only recent thing I added was a small pulsing xenia that could not possibly hold that many snails. In the pic below it is the tiny redish thing on top of my margarita snail. The picture sucks, I need a new camera :wall:

No kidding. Sorry cannot make out what it is. I have never heard of margarita snails breeding in captivaty yet so do not know what the babies would look like.

Those snails probably came with the LR.

I would guess that those are not baby margarita snails. There are a couple kinds of snails similar in size to the one pictured that don't grow much larger than that. They typically come on LR, and do breed successfully in most tanks.

Cool thanks they seem to be making a dent in my algae.

You know I was just going to post something tonight about finding a critter that will eat snail eggs. I have started to see the little eggs all over my LR long with some freshly hatched youngin's...

Yeah found that out after I got them, they where labeled turbo snails, so I assumed. Will not happen again :D I keep my tank running 73-74 F, Do you think I will have any problems?
