So I decided after alot of thought and advice to go a little bigger..originally I was going with the 20L and decided with the 29g

29g AGA 30X12X18
Coralife aqualights with lunar light 30" 2x65watts
25lbs cured live rock
5g water from established tank
15g Catalina water co. box o'water
15lbs carib-sea argonite sand (not live)
2 aquaclear 50 powerheads
aquaclear 110 (will be a refugium later)
200 watt visi therm heater
I will be adding a Remora skimmer as i add fish :)

tank went thru a short cycle as alot was from an established tank.
here are the pics as of today..tank was started 5-17-07

This anemone would not come loose as much as my freind tried..so instead of hurting it he gave it to me..so far it's moved location in my tank to the right top

some polyps..don't know what they are

this piece of rock has some sun coral..it was partially dead so he let me have it..hopefully it will come back ..it still has a few live heads that popped out..here they are not out

there it is ..I am a noob to the salty side all comments and questions welcomed :dive2:

Great!

Great! The anemone will need more lighting *I think, if it's PC lighting. If you want to keep the sun coral alive, I would recommend reef chili. The reviews are great, but I havn't actually seen pictures. If you decide to ue reef chili put a picture up of feeding please.

I agree, the anemone will probably need more lighting, plus it is best added to an established tank. But I understand that pulling it off the rock probably would have hurt it, so what choice did you have? Good luck with your tank, and your aquascape looks awesome!

Just wondering if anyone knows what kind of anemone this is? and i will give back if it starts to look bad..i am getting 5 gallons of established water a week from a freind..hopefully this will help..the anemone moved to the top right of the tank for more light...i have 130 watts PC..what a bummer i didn't even really want it :wall: ..if it is a pest..i will def give it back as now it is attached to a smller rock..i don't think it's a condi as it does not have pink/purple tips..i have read that sun coral does not like alot of light

i am getting 5 gallons of established water a week from a freind..

All that does is add nutrients to your water... the bacteria that you want reside in sand, rock and filter media; solid surfaces.

i have read that sun coral does not like alot of light

IT's not that they don't like a lot of light... it's that they are non-photosynthetic and will not use any light... ...also, they will be open mostly in the night when the lights are off, since in the ocean (and it's reasonable to say tanks) that's when the most food is in the water coloumn. SO... how much light you have should not effect them.

Yah i know all about the bacteria :D..i just wanted people to know the water does have some nutrients...i moved the sun coral down and it does open up at night..i watched it for a while very pretty bright yellow/orange colors..thanks for everyones advice/help..i still worry about the anemone..i don't know if i should give it away..
