Marine Diseases

Why not, I mean if I can see fish swimming by my legs and hermits crawling on the beach. Small jelly fish and alot of mysids and can be seen in the water collected, then why not?

If you're set on trying it, go ahead, it works fine for some people. for me its not worth the risk.

I have been long planning to start a dedicated small saltwater tank with beach water and sand but my empty 150g and 2 giant gouramis are in the way. Tomorrow I am placing my 150g in my room and then my 35g would be empty for a marine tank.

I am hoping to see how this experiment commences.
Objective:
Testing saltwater from the beach for its useablility for marine fish keeing.
Apparatus:
1. Saltwater from the beach. And beach water from existing tank.
2. Very fine sand from the beach.
3. 35g tank. Dimension 30inch long by 15inch wide by 18inch tall
4. Air pump.
Live Stock:
1. 5 hermit crabs.
2. 1 Clam
3. 4 small unknown crabs. Most probably sally light foot
4. Local beach damsel.

Lets just hope I dont make a fool out of myself, not saying that I am already not one LOL

I am right now thingking for a sump. In it a protein skimmer. I have not yet decieded to incorporate a jaburt plenum in it but I am thinking about it.

There are other few ideas but those are still in my head.

One question though. Does alot of air bubbles harm the fish?

no, air bubbles in the water shouldn't harm the fish.

And what are the best cleaner fish or shrimp to be used? And which cleaner fish and shrimp are most effective. Which are the hardiest?

Which one would eat parasitic copeods.

Usually, although not always the case, they don't get eaten they just get pulled off the fish. Most fish that are strictly cleaner are better left to the ocean, cause once the cleaning is done they starve to death. Some shrimp work well...skunk cleaner shrimp.

The best way to recognize disease is to avoid it. QT, and perfect water conditions make happy fish...and IMO Ocean water is not something I would use...Probably the source of the disease/bad water that is killing your fish.

or improper filtration...
