I just placed a pink barred goby in my 55 reef about a week ago.Well, I think it had ich, there weren't any spots or any trouble breathing + he was eating well. Now i found small white spots on my clown and Both my mandarins!I ahve some turbos, blue legged hermits, some zoos and button polyps,a few sponges, anemones, and pep shrimps.Question is Is there a cure I could use to treat the whole tank without killing anything?there is like 110 lbs lr,so gettin the fish out will be impossible. Is there a specific product that works best?Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!!!

cant help with the name of the product, but my lfs told me that there are products out there that you can use in a reef tank. i think they have very low, to no copper in them, the only catch he said was that they will turn your tank a different color, and could take a long time to work

maybe someone knows the specific name

I've used ruby reefs kick ich in the past on my reef tank it's copper free. I really don't think that it's what fixed the problem though. Most of the time if you have good water conditions your fish should be able to fight off the ich. If they are recent introductions the stress of moving them about is most likely what triggered the outbreak. I just keep my water parameters good and wait a bit before medicating.

Try feeding the fish a garlic supplement. I don't think there is proof to this method but in your position I would sure try it. Basically the theory states that parasites cannot live on a host that has garlic in their bloodstream. I have no proof that this will work however its a cheap alternative to a lot of labor and potentially putting medicine into the tank that could hurt the reef.

Although I have no proof of this working I do use Kent's Garlic Xtreme daily on my frozen cubes. I put 2 drops on them and mix the food up. To this day I have never had any sick fish however I cannot attribute it to the garlic supplement.

garlic xtreme

Upon introducing a new fish, I started a round of ich; my female clarkii's eye clouded, the only case I'd ever had. Used the garlic xtreme, I think by Kent, 10 drops for my 90 gal. daily, and 2-3 drops in dry food{soak for an hour in fridge} once a day. trated for five days, then did a third water change. It worked wonderfully. Within three days the cloudiness went away and did not lose any fish. Good luck

Wish I could remember everything in one thread! My 90 gal. is stocked with shrimp, snails, corals, soft and hard, and nothing suffered from the garlic.
