I have a 55 with 3 large redhook silver dollars, 1 spotted silver dollar and a bushynose plec. I currently have a HOT mag, an emp. 280 and a peng. 350 running.
I would like to replace the emp. 280 and peng. 350 with a canister filter. I am planning on buying a Magnum Pro, filling it with Seachem Matrix bio-media and running the bio-wheels. The Marineland C-220 is in the same price range but I don't know if it will do as well. Suggestions?

I will keep using the HOT mag for polishing 24/7 or with carbon when I am on vacation.

Pet Solutions and Drs. Foster Smith have great shipping prices this month. I'm looking there.

I would go with the MAG 350 because its cheaper and ive heard the bottom mounted motor is very convenient.

Mag 350 Pro...but check Kens...you can get a C360 for the same price as most 350 Pro systems

The new C-series has much better bio filtration than a magnum, but I've just never been a fan of the bio-wheels. Despite using them for years, I finally replaced my last penguin with an aquaclear.

Mag pro $114 free shipping @ pet solutions. The C-360 $151 + $16.57 shipping @ Ken's Fish. I don't think the C220 will be enough and the C360 is over budget.

True, but the 360 will be worth it for the wasted money spent on bio-wheels. If you are set on a Mag 350..the bio-wheels are a waste.

Not sure if I will use the bio-wheels or not. I figured I would by the mag with them because Marineland doesn't sell them any other way. The pro is only $15 more. The Magnum without the wheels is $99 shipped. So just skip the wheels and fill with bio media? and keep running the hot?
