Can you replace the carbon in the Marineland penguin filter cartidges with new carbon or purigen. I haven't tried yet and I was wondering if anyone has tried and been successfull. What can I do to use purigen with my penguin?

Any ideas?????

If you can make it fit, you can run it in your filter, no matter the brand or type of filter.

I stick the purigen right in front of the cartidge just before the biowheel.
How and with what? The 5 x 10 size cartidge they sell?

If you buy the purigen 100 mL pouch, you can stick it in front of the cartridge just before the biowheel. The biowheel is raised on a little ledge so the plastic will hold the purigen in place without disrupting the biowheel. This worked for me on a Penguin 200 and the smaller penguin (can't recall the model # but it uses size B cartidges)

I use a penguin 200 with c cartidges and you say the purigen pounch fits nicely in the 200? How long does the purigen last before you must replace it???

Depends on how much junk you have. It'll turn brown when it's time to clean it.

I just do it every other week.
