Market Saturated??

i have 10 tanks devoted to just snails 6 brigg tanks and 4 giant ramshorn tanks. I am hatching about 4-5 clutches of briggs every month and the giant ramshorns are on a constant egg laying mission. but i have discovered the young giant ramshorns love to eat the eggs that are laid by the female giants so that helps keep them in check unless i move the babies out to other tanks to grow and hatch more giants out. i rehome most of mine thru my local craigslist and have got a devoted snail fan club who call and ask if they can come look thru the babies for certain colors they want. when the local demand for snails slows down i will cut back on the clutches i hatch monthly. the giant ramshorns are really in demand now and are popular because the local pet stores just arent able to get them. my lfs have offered several times to take all i can supply but they want to offer a store credit for them and not offer me a wholesale price when i buy something with the store credit and i said here you want to buy them from me at wholesale prices and then charge me over priced retail prices to use the credits - i said no thanks and dont do business with them. and every new person who comes to buy snails gets a "fact sheet" on the care and food requirements for the snails and a sample of the snail jello along with the recipe to make it or they can buy it from me if they dont want to make it. I also make the plaster of paris food pucks and offer them for sale. This "hobby" has almost become a full time job but i enjoy it.

I'm planning on raising a clutch when/if I can for the educational experience for my son... oh OK... and because it would be neat and it's something I haven't done yet. ;) It will just be the one clutch though.

I don't care to make money off selling them- I'll give the snails away free if I have to.

could i see some pics of the "pretty" snails? see ive always thought of snails as ugly pests. but if u have super pretty ones, id like to see, maybe if there unwanted get a few for free ? :)

That's what I would be worried about, that the lfs would back out and then I would be stuck with the babies. I only see gold and wild in my area though, I would think any normal person would love to buy such beautiful snails though.
Lol, why did you have to show that thread again, now my addiction is telling me I need to find those few colors that I don't have.
