maroon algae outbreak..?

What i would do is scrape some off and remove it from the water to check it out for slimyness, hardness etc etc...personaly, from the pics, it looks like coralline to me...but thats just me...the reason some of your existing coralline is turning white is because its adjusting to your new mh lighting..nothing to worry about and will pass..

:help:took a full range of water tests today and all looks well...? so i can't pin point the source of the red growth...

sal- 1.023 (refractometer)
ph- 8.3
nitrate- 5 ppm
nitrite- 0 ppm
ammonia- 0 ppm
ca- 440 ppm
alk- 120 ppm
and phos- well see for yourself... i'm not really sure what to make of this test. i took it three times with the same result. it is supposed to turn a shade of blue but instead turned yellow... what does that mean? i have phosban media in my sump, could it be causing these results?

also i am going on vacation tomorrow so i will be away from my tank for two weeks... if this is cyano it will be all over my tank when i return. should i dose my display with furazone green before i leave? or let it be?:help: grins!!

it sat for 3 min over what the test required and didn't change color. stayed yellow... should i let it sit longer?

maybe expired i will get a new kit soon... and i have been feeding the same amount lately except for the addition of a small piece of nori for my tangs once every two days...

what about the furazone? should i dose to be safe? i don't want the cyano (if thats what it is) to spread...
