Mating question

Ok when i first set up my tank like 6 months ago i bought 2 assorted platties. I know know that the Male is a sword tale cuz he has grown a long black sword like tail. and the female looks like a normal platty, well anyways the male chases the female arround and tries to mate with the female with his gonopodium. well he has been doing this for aslong as i can remember and the female has never gotten pregnant?

Im stumped here.

The male is a swordtail, and swordtails can breed with platys. Give it some time she will have fry. Males with try to mate almost all the time.

I have a similar query - but concerning a different breed.
I have a pair of dalmation mollies - one small and one big - the smaller one is aggressive, and is always chasing the bigger one - so i guess that makes the smaller one a male - And the smaller one has a sail fin - while the larger one is pretty normal.
So, do they make a couple ??

Check your other thread about aggressiveness of the molly and yes platys can breed with swordtails.
