maxi jet hell!!

well what maxi-jet are you guys using, obviously there is a higher chance of fish getting sucked in a maxi-jet 1200 rather than a maxi-jet 900 etc.

mine is a maxi jet 1000000.

ok, thats a lie. its one of the weaker ones. good point. :) lol

I previously had problems with fish getting stuck on powerheads (not MJs though) due to the way they the intake was designed. When I switched to MJs, I no longer had this problem (I use the 600s and 900s with the full screen on the intake, not the tapered solid tube with the screen tip). I was also told by several people that the fish I lost (lawnmower blenny and lemonpeel angel) should not have had a problem removing themselves from the powerhead if they were healthy fish in good shape. In both cases, the fish were recent additions and probably were in somewhat less than ideal condition as a result of their journey from the ocean to our tank. Not sure if that helps any, but I know where you're coming from.

Both mine are 1200's

my healthy neon goby was lost for over a month. i thought he died and was eaten somewhere in the rocks. but the fish turned up lately. he was pulled in into hang on overflow box. the flow is mild but the goby was pulled in anyway. the goby is better now, putting on the weight that he lost during a month without any food.

i was shocked to see my tang. bcos i assummed he wud be strong enough! however, the seahorses had no chance. they were only small and they arnt that strong anyways! poor guys!
