Maximum Julies in a 20?

I'd definitely go with transcriptus if you're pairing them up in a 20. They're the smallest and least aggressive of the Julies.

Well one more thing to consider, is I'm keeping them with incredably non violent multies.

Also the guy is getting the ornata's for 2.5! The trans. are 5.5 a peice.

The issue isn't the multi's, it's the conspecific aggression between the Julies when they mature. I tried pairing a group of J. ornatus "Gombe" in a 29 (same footprint as a 20 long) and lost all but the one that had killed off the rest. Twice. It was eventually moved to a 55 with the sole survivor of the previous group, and those two did pair up. Obviously, one of the "killers" was a female...

I have had the same experience with Transcriptus in a 20L. I am currently working on getting a pair in a 75. Now I just don't know whether one is missing or dead at any given time.

I agree with the pairing of Julido's and is why all my Julido's are now in a 120gal mean little boogers these guys are..

im waiting on my transcripts to pair off but they are only like an inch so i think it will probly be a while.

transcriptus, ornatus, and dickfeldi would be ok in a 20 gallon. I wouldn't attempt marleri or regani in a 20 gallon even if they are an established pair. I had female marleri chase males out of a 55 gallon tank, the females can be real aggressive toward the males.
