I've seen them just about everywhere. You can find them online for the best price IMO. My LFS likes to sell them for $20-$30 each depending on size which is ridiculous. I see lots of local breeders selling them for decent prices, again depending on size.
I wish you were closer! I could give you all the P. socolofi albinos/Snow Whites you would need... lol. I don't know how to ship, but maybe I should look into that so I can find good homes for my babies. The snow whites really are more beautiful in person than you can tell in pictures. They have almost a mother of pearl effect when light reflects off of them. Nice hints of blue and pink on such a clean white.
Demasoni are very pretty, but the aggression has always made me avoid them. I've read so many cases where they just massacre each other... :{ Are you sure you would not like something a bit more "mellow" (as much as a cichlid can be, lol!) like P. saulosi or Cynotilapia afra? The snow whites and yellow labs are pretty peaceful for cichlids. Just a thought!
alright guys i have another question. From the cichlid compatability chart it says that the fairy cichlid is not compatible with the demasoni? I was wondering why? is it because the demasoni are soo ageressive?
From what my LFS told me is that i could put these fish together as long as i just have a lot of fish in the tank because that will help disperse the aggression from the demasoni.
I believe the fairy cichlid is an omnivore and would require a different diet than the demasoni so I would not mix them otherwise you run the risk of the demasoni possibly getting bloat.
I'm not an expert but I would not mix a mbuna cichlid with anything other than another mbuna.
I agree with Beachcire two different diets the Brichardi needs protein and the Demasoni needs a veggie diet with a little protein. So one or the other will miss out on a required diet causing a deficiency issue.. Aggression with the Brichardi when they breed will be none other and none stop in a small setup and a small setup consists of at least a 45gal..
So it looks like i'm going to have 15 demsoni 5 labs and 5 socolofi. My question is can i fit anymore in my tank? from what i've heard i really want to over stock my tank especially with all my aggressive species. Do you guys think i can put anymore in this tank? or maybe up the numbers of my socolofi and labs???
I have a sump filtration which works great with a high bio load.
You might be able to bump the numbers on the Labs and Soco's to 6 or 7 but i wouldn't add another species might off set the balance you can add a Synodontis or two..
