thanks cap... i did actually look into them right after posting that. i didn't mention it because i wanted to get it straight from the horses (cavemans) mouth. good info. btw, i already do keep a scary critter or 2. you should see people react to my redtail boa. :grinyes: i do know it's not the same when their area/territory is the same as yours, but he's not my first scary critter either... or my first "wild" critter.
Here in PA it's a piece of cake Dun.First you have to make certain there are no local ordinances against it. Then contact the Game Commission. They'll give you specifications for the enclosure along with the rules for keeping it. Build the enclosure, submit to an inspection and pay for your permit. It used to be $300 but that was 10 yrs ago at least. Once you have your permit there are quite a few breeders around. I learned all of this stuff from a friend of a friend who keeps exotics in the Poconos. And about a year ago his wife was mauled to death by her Black Bear.
funny enough i'll be waiting at least until we've moved to the mountains. mom already lives there. we visited a couple weeks back and the big town talk is actually a black bear that's been harassing people, chasing them, ravaging garbage cans, etc., etc.. how ironic.
sorry to hear about your buddies wife. must be hard to deal with.
anyway, it won't be real soon but i will have one eventually. :dance2:
