mealworms

Make sure you cut the head off of the worm..... my gecko died from a mealworm that bit a whole out of his stomach... the head can stay alive for a while if not chewed up...

IME, most critters don't go for the can o' worms. I also don't think those would be very nutritious for the long term. "Mealworm" can be a variety of grubs. The large, or "king" mealworms are the only ones of nutritional value for reptiles(though these may indeed be what you are feeding your gecko). I have never used an on-line source to order mealworms, but I don't see why it would be a problem except in very hot/very cold conditions

I understand that the gecko is being picky at the moment, but I would seriously attempt to get it feeding on other things such as crickets, tomatoe/silkworms, etc. Like they say, variety is the spice of life.

I'm not a big fan of mealworms. Never have, never will. I don't think I've fed them to any of my pets in over 15 years. They're not really that healthy for them. Their exoskeletons can be hard to digest for some species. I stick with crickets, grasshoppers, roaches and sometimes wax worms. I haven't tried Phoenix Worms but I hear good things about them.

You can feed any lizard a mealworm. It just has to have shed its exoskeleton in the past 1/2 hour. :D Who wouln't love a soft, white grub?
