Is there any meat that can be fed to freshwater fish? Like the kind I might buy for myself and have on hand? For example, could I put a piece of shrimp, or some leftover turkey in my veggie clip? I know I could buy something specific from the LFS, just wondered if there were any suitable people foods for them ;)

Fish flesh (white or red), shrimp, whole fish, scallops, etc...

I do all of my fish-food shopping at seafood/grocery stores.

I don't feed poultry, pork, beef, or other terrestrial meats.

My fish nibble at shrimp.... I have a bunch of big ol sandfleas bought months ago by my brother for fishing bait that I have been meaning to shell, but I can't bring myself to touch the little waterbugs. They're probably rotten by now.

Heck, I should go to a bait shop and buy some bait for fishfood.

feed them veggies man
they like lettuce or some peas if ur fish r big enuff

Well, I guess that depends on what kind of fish we are talking about....

I'd give omnivores the sushi Raskolnikov showed us and veggies. A quality foods, varied and balanced, that's all that matters.

My otos, kuhlies, clowns, and corycats love zucchini the most. My neon tetras and glo-lites love yams the best. My rainbows only peck a bit at the veggies, but they're there if they want them.

EVERYONE in my tank (except the otos) loves frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp, especially the rainbows.

Holly,
I have been feverently searching for a related thread, but to no avail. There was an excellent piece written by OnionGirl explaining the reasons not to feed terestrial meats to fish. Of course I will not be able to make it sound good like she did, nor will I have all the correct info there. But in a nutshell, fats in land animals do not react in water the same way fish fats do. Using beef as an example, beef fat will solidify in water and not redilly digest.(try cooking some hamburger and pouring the fat into a glass of water) Fish fats will remain somewhat liquid in water(try pouring the fat drained off a salmon steak into another glass of water). The problems that arrise by feeding land meat to fish are mostly related to digestion.
