I have been medicating a sick fish in my hospital tank since monday. He seems to be doing much better. I have been doing daily waterchanges and adding his antibacteria medication to the water. Question is, how long should he be treated in the medication, it does not say on the bottle.

I would say until you see results... but be sure not to overdose. It depends probebly on what particular medication you are using...
People usually give say 3 doses then wait a bit and then if he still isnt healed then give another set of 3. What med are you using?

May I suggest that if this is an "antibiotic" as you are describing, you may want to use it even longer than 3-4 days or longer than "until you see results" idea. Antibiotics need to obliterate the bacteria in the fish, not just begin the process. What you may set yourself up for by only treating until you see results is a recurrence of the disease only with a stronger bacteria that is resistant to antibiotic therapy. This idea is the same as if you were to take an antibiotic for a bacterial infection, just start feeling better, quit the antibiotic, then allow the bacteria causing the infection to "figure out" the drug and evolve to a new strain which is more deadly.
that is good, but I would like to hear from someone who can give me a better idea of the suggested duration of an antibiotic regiment. I don't want to overmedicate, and no one seems to know how long fish should be treated. three days, a week, two weeks, a month? Help please :help:
In general its about 2 weeks, but again dont hold me to that because it depends on the fish, the med, and the severity and type of the wound. I would go for 2 weeks.
