I just tried it and so far after one dose it seems to be doing more harm. My fish are gasping, my neon tetras are losing their color and my danios are stressed out , swimming up and down the glass. Also my clown loach is staying in the cave and wont come out but in the morning to eat and then right back in. He use to eat several small feedings a day.
So right now I'm not convienced and put the carbon filter back in. Tomm. I will do a water change to get rid of it. I dont want to lose my fish. I even dosed lower than what they said to do.

When I use half a dose though, it actually works quite well in eliminating fungus and clearing up cuts, abrasions, sores, etc...
You MUST increase the airation in the tank while using this product.
Yes only use half the dose and add it slowly to your tank.
I am currently using it on a common pleco that has some type of infection after he got into a fight with another fish I do believe. He is in a seperate tank and has been there for 3 days so far. I haven't seen anything yet but he is still active and eating.
It helped a little with my guppies but after I stopped treatment after a week their problems came back...
BTW make sure you do have proper aeration. It will lower oxygen levels in tank, which would cause everything people have complained about it.

What brand would u guys use instead? Im just curious cause im using Melafix to help heal my puffer. Her colours got better, but she has got worse. SHe now owbles as she swims and she still wont eat. It seems that she is gasping for air like trkyhunter91 said. It has healed her wounds like it said, but im wondering at what cost.

I think it's great stuff. You should have probably either combined the melafix with another antibiotic for your puffer, or increased the dose. I've used it at triple strength for rainbows that were losing their appetites and color. 10 days and they're good as new. I use the concentrated pond melafix and it saves me a lot of money.

Ive done a water change and put the carbon back in. I have also started to airate the tank with a airpump. She is still hanging in there, but still not doing so good. I figured its not going to make her worse, she can only get better from here cause the only thing worse then she is now, is dead.
I have used Melafix and Pimafix more than once in freshwater tanks housing Discus, Mikrophageous Ramirezis and Red Cherry Shrimp. There have been no loses ever. There must be good water circulation, and stable water parameters. No water changes during treatment to prevent lossing chemical balance and very important, follow instrutions on bottle. Both products have worked for me when used together. Treated dropsy on neon tetras succesfully. Must realize that these products may not treat all diseases. Use common sense and read a lot.
