I thought my fish was a Melanochromis johannii until most of the pictures show them with only stripes. I have seen some that are more of a plaid than a stripe. I don't know what it is now. Possibly some one can help me identify it. I am not a good photographer and Sinbad would not pose for me.

Thanks in advance.

I may be wrong, but looks too stocky to be a melanochromis. Could be a type of metriaclima sp. msobo (male).

Patterns like that on a johanni (or maingano) might be said to be a quality issue.

My input

I'm not very good at scientific names or anything but to me that is a Male Demasoni or interbred with one. It shares a lot of similarities.
