I have only 2 Nerite snails and they are making the hugest poop mess in the tank it's unbelievable. They are like little cat poops everywhere!
I don't feed them much at all and there's no algae in the tank, why are they making such a mess?
It's so bad I'm thinking about getting rid of them just because of this.. Especially with my sand substrate, the poopies are kinda sticky and stick to the sand and make it very difficult to siphon out
I always have to watch for baby shrimp when cleaning.

1 Nerite snail is producing more waste then everything in my 29 gallon tank put together..

Are assassin snails this messy too?

LMAO.. that's funny. See? This is just another reason why we tell people not to get snails (or plecos) just for the purpose of controlling algae. It's better to learn how to do that ourselves instead of introducing some other species into the tank to handle maintenance chores for us. Yes, they destroy lots of algae, that's true. But they also produce a lot of waste as well, which adds to the bioload.

I don't have algae in my tank, they are in there for looks.
For someone who just collects them because they like snails, after a few days, there is more poop mass then there is snail mass, so what you are really collecting is poop..
