Messy snails..

Drop a couple Anetome Helena's in there and you won't have to worry about them anymore... :)

How much poop do they poop compared to Nerite snails?

Cool picture

I'm thinking about breeding some Helena snails. I just need to find a new home for my other snails before I do that :evil_lol:

I will :thm:

there have not been reports of assassins taking down nerites as the nerites can seal up very tightly. This would be a poor solution. If you don't want your nerites, rehome them. If you don't like the poo, get a turkey baster and suck it up at feeding time inbetween water changes. i don't think nerites are excessive poo'ers, just efficient eaters.

Anything that eats 24/7 is going to poop 24/7. I would think assassins would be in that same category as well?

I thought Arakkis had some of his olive nerites taken down by assassins? Perhaps Arakkis can confirm this personally.

I don't like the idea of using the assassins against the nerites either whether they will take down the nerites or not. Just rehome them if you don't want them. Be glad they eat unlike most nerites that starve to death when food becomes very scarce.

No, assassins don't contribute much bioload and based on my observation, each one consumes only 1-2 adult snails (similar size or larger) per day. That's not really too much at all. I'd classify them as neon tetras of the snail world rather than plecos like the mystery snails.

I believe this is when he was testing out whether they would eat nerites or nto and there were ALOT of assassins in with ONLY nerites. I don't think anyone who was casually keeping either together has reported any issues, unlike with bridgesii who do not seal up as tightly.
