I just picked up a 10g metal framed tank that my dad found me. I wasn't expecting it to be metal framed so it was quite the surprise. I know a lot of people would love to have one of these, especially in such good condition. I haven't leak tested yet but it has a slate bottom and doesn't seem to have any rust or decay.

Any idea how much something like this is worth? I find it very unique but my fiance thinks it is ugly so I am slightly pondering selling it or trading it. It would probably be worth it to me to trade it for a 20L and a nice HOB or something. Though that might be wishful thinking...

It's worth a dollar ,do you take paypal ?

tell your fiace to get some taste. those things are retro cool awesome.

On CL here somebody has been trying to sell a 10g retro metal frame aquarium for 10 dollars. It has been up for a few months. I was considering getting it, but with the cost of the gas, the drive out there will make the tank closer to 20 dollars.

If I could get one for $10, I would jump on that. I got some free tanks a few years ago and one was a 5 gallon Metaframe in pretty bad condition, but it came with a 10 gallon size Metaframe light (electronics were shot, but if I can find a tank to go with it, I'd like to retrofit something into it). I took out all the old glass and was going to redo it with new glass or acrylic, but the frame seems to have disappeared. If it doesn't turn up, I'll be really mad. No one will admit to trashing it.

I would imagine shipping could be a little expensive on one of these as they aren't exactly light, but I would like to get a metal 10

Yeah if I sold it, I wouldn't even consider shipping.

Perhaps I should try to get my hands on it and clean it up!

When they come up for auction at my aquarium club most old metal framed tanks generally sell for about the cost of a new all glass aquaria of the same size. Larger sizes like 30s and 55s can fetch more if the right people are present at auction.
