What do you ya'll think of those metal stands that hold 2 aquariums? I just got one today and I hope it is as sturdy as it seems. Thanks!!

they will no way at all collapse. I would worry about the floor more. but THey should have metal flat squares on each of the legs.

It is on carpet. What do you mean "metal flat squares on each of the legs?" Should I put plywood or anything else under the aquariums ?

sorry i mightve got confusing there.
did you buy the stand at the lfs? or local hardware store?
bascially its always good to have larger surface area at the bottom to spread out the weight.

I got it at the lfs, I believe it is made by All-Glass. It has those curvy designs on it. Should I put plywood under the aquariums?

i dont understand.
anyways. from what i've seen at the lfs. these metal stands should have little squares of metal under all 4 legs. the little squares are about 1.5 inch x 1.5 inch.
these will help support the stand on the floor.
bottom line is to have some amount of surface area at the leg of the stand.

I have a metal stand that I bought through Petwarehouse to hold my 20 and 10 gallon tank. Had it for a year and it seems to work great. Im not so sure if it will hold up in an earthquake though. Seems tipsy...
It seems alot of the stands are tipsy once you put a tank full of water on them. Our fifty five is on a cabinet designed for it. It was so concerned about the tipsy part i ran wire from the back of the stand to the wall. If you use my suggestion, make sure the screws go into a stud or you wasting your time. My tank wont fall over no matter how hard the cat or kids try.
