Metriaclima sp "msobo"

I am with you too blue, msobos were the first Mbuna I fell in love with and kicked off this whole thing! :) But like we see here I heard lots of mixed reviews, just like pretty much every other mbuna (except yellow labs, rustys & acei which everyone agrees are docile).

As far as online venders I have only dealt with Atlantis Tropical Fish Hatchery but they were great, there was a hiccup with with the date they were sending them out but not a big deal just a mis-communication and he sent extras to make up for it. They were by far the cheapest around but prices have gone up quite a bit from when I ordered (mine were like $4-6$ ea). Shipping was very reasonable too but that might have been because I am so close to them.

Not every single specimens has grown up to be perfect but there are far more prettys than uglies. And I have not found a single person who did not have great things to say about them!

Good luck to you!

DUH forgot to mention this! Atlantis doesn't have any msobo available now (but you don't need em now anyways) but just shoot them an email and they'll let you know what they are expecting. Since it is such a long way off they may even order them special for you.

Blue, I would consider seriously what kay-bee has said on this thread. Welcome back, kay-bee! It's an honor to have you here again.

Do you have mainganos? My experience with them has been good. I think you want some yellow in your tank, right? Aren't male saulosis too similar to your male Cynos?

I'm looking for yellow and I'm hoping to take advantage of the mbuna out there where the males and females look different. Saulosi would look a little similar. They have more stripes and are a different shade of blue. My boy doesn't always show his stripes either, usually he's just blue unless someone is in his face of he's trying to impress a female. The guy I got my cynos from said he's kept them with saulousi without problems. I can get saulousi locally as well. Which would save some money.

I also looked into johanni since they have the nice blue black combo and the females are yellow. Plus the stripes go a different way. But I keep hearing mixed opinions about their temerperment.

I'm trying to be a bit more creative so anyone has ideas just let me know. I know yellow labs are always an option but I would really like to explore all the other possibilities first.

EDIT: I also have a single demasoni. He can be removed if needed. I would really like to keep him but may not be able to depending on what I go with.

My other fish are my cyno. white top haras (females are a grayish blue male is light blue with black stripes, when he feels like it). and I have some yello tailed acei. The substrate and background are black so I'm looking for a light color that will pop in the darker tank. I have thought a little about snow white scolofis, but I can't remember is they get big or not.

About your last question: Aceis are supposed to get about 1.5" bigger than the socolofis.
