should i get 70 watts of MH light or 98 watts of T5 light? Both cost the same, for 20 gallon high tank with softies and a few lps corals.
 
You could get either for what you want to keep, since you don't want SPS or clams. Although you might be able to keep some SPS corals under that light.

I got a 20H and have a 150w Sunpod HQI. That is enough light to keep anything! Big fan of metal halides.
 
im a large fan of MH lights buts its a 70 watt MH, not a 150 so i dunno, i'll see which one my lfs has in stock. Hopefully my tank will do without actinics. I do have a NO light that wont be used for anything, maybe i could stick a 15 watt actinic in there if you can for NO lights
 
I would go halide, you could keep anything except clams that need to be on the sand, so just keep anything with higher light demands up top and you will be fine!!
 
so the softies at the bottom and lps at the top, makes sense, ok well i'll see what my lfs have.
 
The bottom 6 inces you may need to do sponges and shrooms due to the depth.
 
i was planing on ricordia shrooms anyway, as well as some frogspawn at the top and button polyps whever i feel they will look good at
 
its one or the other, cant have both, not enough cash.
 
Halide with a 14K bulb should do you good!!
