I finally got my 4 clown loaches on Thursday.. I LOVE them!!! However, my 4 seems now to be 3... I can't find the other one for the life of me! I checked in the decor, in the gravel, outside the tank, in the filter, and none of the fish I have seem to be any fatter... I have some tetra, gouramis, and swordtails, nothing that would eat a loach whole! Anyone ever have a clown go AWOL? Any more tips on where to look? I hope i didn't loose my baby!

I had one swim down inside a plastic tube worm/coral decoration and get stuck. i tore the tank apart looking for him and finally thought to look inside the coral. I didn't think the holes were big enough for him to fit in, but he was in there stuck in the bottom. I pryed him loose with a coat hanger and he swam out. Look in every nook and cranny of your decorations.
Thats too bad :shake: , I hope you have better luck with the rest of them. I lost a clown loach the other day too, he wasted away from skinny, but my other skinny loach seems to be recovering and the rest are very healthy and fat

Loaches are quite the little disappearing artists, for sure. I can go extended periods of time without seeing some of my loaches, unless I'm making a concerted effort to find them. I know my lfs had a clown loach go missing one time. He was inside a shell decoration. They finall realised he was in there when he got so big you could see him. They came to realise that the current in the tank was carrying food right into him and he just stayed in the shell, getting fatter and fatter until they had to break the shell to get him out!

I pirchased 4 clown loaches last week. I finally saw all 4 at once this morning. Over the past week I would see 2 or 3 at a time but never the 4. My wife and I were puzzled. I still can't for the life of me figure out were they hide!

Have you seen the loach skinny disease website? It's a very common infection among clown loaches these days. Every tiny clown at my LFS has it.

Every small (1") clown loach at my LFS has it. But the "medium" ones that are about 2" seem to be alright compared to last year when they had it too.
Next to ich, it's the most common clown loach problem.
