I haven't seen my blue mystery snail since Sunday. :( I've gone a day, maybe 2 without seeing him before, but not this long. I'm not sure where he could be- there really aren't too many places for him to hide, he;s pretty big. The only place I can think is inside my fake driftwood piece. Is 4 days long enough to start worrying, and moving things around to look? I've heard a dead snail will stink up the tank, and it doesn't smell bad.

I'm whipping up some snail jello (finally, I bought calcium pills with vitamin D by accident before) to try to to entice him out (and to make my new snails from msjinkzd happy ;) ).

Does the driftwood piece have any openings in which he could get stuck? I had that happen with a brigg once. Also check if he is burrowing someplace in the substrate. Some snails do that occasionally, and if it is at the base of plants you might not notice them.

This is the fake driftwood. That small hole in the side is what I mean- I don't *think* he could get stuck, but I can't really tell how small it gets. I just don't want to take the whole piece out unless I need to, but I guess it's getting to that point.

I guess he could be in the gravel, I'm not home most of the day so he wouldn't even have to be in there continuously, necessarily.

It looks like there are a lot of knooks and crannies in that piece so you can't rule out the possibility he is stuck. Try putting the snail jello in after you turn out the lights, then come back in an hour with a flashlight and check. Maybe he is more nocturnal? Good luck - I hope he's okay. :)
