I'm going to return my five danios to the store to make room in my 10gal #1 for a few bigger and slower fish. I want to replace them immediatly so the tank's cycle doesn't crash from a diminished bioload.

I'm going to get two or three cory cats. They're small, they school, they're peacful and comic, and they should clean up the bottom of the tank (one of my hornwort fell apart).

But aside from that I'm at a loss at what to get. A gourami would be nice... but I all I could get would be another male and if they be came territorial I'd be at a loss as I have no avaliable tanks to put a gourami in (betta + gourami = :().

I realize the cory cats will come close to topping off the tank, so I'm really just looking for one 2" - 3" fish to share the upper levels of the tank with my gourami.

Try to get at least 3 cory cats, as they like company. I'm not sure what medium-small sized fish that could be compatible with gouramies. Maybe a pair of platies.

German Blue Rams are nice and small.

They are but they need large territories. 10g's too small.

My suggestion would be a male honey gourami. One would be fine, and it would'nt bother the cories.

Also, if you choose pygmie cories you could get enough to keep them in a happy school of 5 or 6. They'll give you much more pleasure then as they'll be more active and less skittish
