I use that heater on a 2.5G plastic bowfront and it keeps the temp from 80F around the fall when it starts to get cold to around 74F in the winter. My home temp is around 68F in the winter. It's probably not enough for a 5G when it gets really cold outside.
I have been meaning to try and rig up heating tape that herp keepers use on their tank. You can probably put it under smaller tanks and let the heat radiate upwards. Does any one have experience with heat tape or done something similar?
