What is the minimum footprint needed to hold two species - one from Julie and one from one of the shelly species? I am assuming one side will be stacked with rocks and the other side will be all sand.

Maybe a 20gal long for a few shellies and a pair of julies. But I would say one side with rocks and the other with at least 2 or 3 shells for each shelly fish.

20 long, so that would be a 2.5ft tank, correct?

Now that's tempting. I want to start just one relatively small tank for now and I was going to setup a 15g for a single shelly setup. I have two 75g tanks that will be set up may be 10 months from now so I have an option to move them to a bigger tank later on.

Hmm... choices choices... :)

Correct, yhbae. Dimensions in inches for the 20g long are 30x12x12.

not really...

15 g- shellie
20 g- julies and shellies

:D

I have both 15g and 20g long empty. :) Hence choices... :grinyes:

I started off thinking, may be setup a small one, like 10g. Then that idea blew up into 15g... Now I am thinking 20g! With the way I am going, I might as well stop thinking and just go with 75g...

I am now more seriously considering a 20g long with two species. If I go towards this path, which two species are appropriate? I suspect Occelatus is out? May be Multies and which species from Julie?

According to the profile:

Dickfeldi: Aggressive, 4"
Marlieri: Aggressive, 5"
Ornatus: Aggressive, 3"
Transcriptus: Aggressive, 3"

So in theory, Ornatus or Transcriptus makes sense in this small tank...

Do multies they are the smallest I believe. For the jullie, I am getting them for a 29, and am going for whichever one looks coolest. The one with the blue stripes on the fins

Shellies: Multies or Brevis. Julies: A pair of Transcriptus.
