Not a fan of the mirror as it would set the visual "vanishing point" exactly at the tank width which is pretty shallow. Visually speaking, having a black background (negative space) behind and between the plant leaves creates an illusion of perspective that there's infinite depth.
Also, when looking at a fish tank, I wouldn't like seeing the whole room behind me reflected inside there.

HAHA this is true. The only reason i started to use one was because i saw a couple of tanks at my LF that had them and thought it looked interesting. But i'm going to try painting the back of my mirror black and give that a shot. And i think Kashta gets an A in drawing class for sure. :lol:
I painted the back of my 20 long black and I like the way it looks. My current 40 breeder will probably just get a piece of black posterboard behind it, since it's already set up, so I can't paint it. I'm with the others, mirrors would be weird, I wouldn't like having the whole room reflected in the tank.
