Emerald "cories" (which are not technically cories but a
Brochis sp.) tend to be more skittish than most anyway. I rescued several from horrid conditions at a pet store, only to have 1 remain alive. He's been in my 55g planted for over a year and a half now, but he has no interest in hanging out with the 7 other cories.
I bought 4 more to go in the planted 125g and they all hang out together and are a little more active. Although I am really seeing a difference in behavoir compared to the boisterous little cories. Once I can catch the loner in the 55g, I'll put him with the others.
So, if you have room in the tank, I would get two more emeralds. Be aware that they get larger than true cories. I've seen some over 4" (very old adult male, to be sure). Mine seem to hover around 3".
Make sure he's got a good hiding place where it's dark, too
By the way, welcome to the forum:clap: Hope you stick around :read:
