bump

Well if there's anything at all for it to grab onto (or even jump off and glide mid-water to), then it's jumped out of your tank perhaps.

If there are fish in your tank, they may have caught him off guard with, well, tasty consequences.

i checked all around the tank and in the filter oh and on the heater

fiddler crab

It turns out that fiddler crabs *aren't* fully aquatic. Without air, they drown. I know, the fish store told me they were fully aquatic too. They need to surface, and if they're kept in a fully aquatic environment, they'll just die out, and your other fish will eat him, which is why he's not there anymore.

I found that out the hard way too.

Did he look like this? My little guys are notorious for disapearing...
They always turn up after a while. Personally I think they do dig down and hide under rocks. As for them needing to surface, I've never had mine die because they could'nt get to the top. unless mine can hold their breath for months at a time, they are fully aquatic. However I make sure that I always have lots of Oxygen In the water all the time...

Just what I have experienced...

i know where your crab went

i know what happened to your crab. i had the same thing. they are shifty little guys. i found mine scurrying across my dining room. i dont know how they get out but they do. i got mine and put him back in the tank but he would find a way to get on a plant to get on the filter and he would wedge himself between the back of the filter and the glass and every now and then i'd have to plop him back in the water. he eventually died with no appearent consequence to my fish so i have no idea what knocked him off. all i know is that they are not keen on being confined.

yes it looked like him
