I have recently bought a 5 gallon self-filtrating coldwater tank. I have two common goldfish about 1 and a half inches long. They are healthy with a good natured temprement. I would like to introduce a couple of attractive brightly coloured fish, of a different species to the goldfish. Could anybody help me with some suggestions please?

Suggestion #1 - removed the goldfish, they will outgrow a 5 gallon tank.

Suggestion #2 - for a 5 gallon tank, for a bit of color, I would suggest 1 male betta, and 3 smaller cories like pepper or panda.

agree

with wippit goldfish are the most commonly abused fish they actually grow huge go with a betta or guppies

Will they be OK?

I got the goldfish off of a friend who had them in a a small round bowl, and so I thought they'd be better off in my bigger tank. I'm not sure if it is a five gallon tank, I know that it's 30 litres (thats metricising for you). They seem happy enough and I wouldn't know where else to put them. Will they be alright?
