I have a Fluval 404 and was wondering if I could cut the tubs and add extra valvues to it so that I could take a 5 or 10 gallon bucket and either intake new water or expell dirty water for water changes.

Has anyone done something like this? Do you have any directions?

Thanks in advance,
TS

T and valve

Just add a T and connect a valve to that with a short hose. I've not done it but had considered it.

I was talking to the LFS owner and he didn't really think it would have enough power to suck, since they are mechanically fed...also I mis-spoke I have a 304 not a 404 (I think)

Thanks for the feedback.

for expelling water all you'd need is a T and a decent pvc ball valve and a barbed fitting in the end of the ball valve for hose. use 1/2" inside diameter fittings to facilitate water removal. For adding water..the python method is better IMO.

yeah I think I'm gonna pass. I already flooded my apartment a little when I took the primed Fluval and opened it to add bio-spira without shutting off the valve :duh:
