finkids make me happy :-)
i think humidity has a lot to do with nasties growing on/in anything. I live in a fairly dry climate (in the winter my fingertips crack!) and i've never had an issue with mold on any of my finkid equipment. mind you, i do run really hot water over/through everything after each and every water change and wipe dry what i can and leave to air dry what i can't wipe dry.
