I have a ten gallon tank with plants. I want to get mollies. But can I have mollies in a non brackish tank? Will they be ok in there? I can't have a brackish tank of any sort with my plants.

Thanks
Alicia

Mollies do much better with some salt. 1tbsp/5gal shouldn't hurt your plants. If they seem to get a little soft, try 1tbsp/10gal.

I am no expert but the only way I have ever bought mollies from my LFS was from freshwater tanks. I do keep them in brackish water but I also have some in freshwater that do fine.

mine did great in brackish and fresh.
they seem to grow faster in brackish... or maybe it's all the protein i put in there for the puffers... ie. bloodworms etc.

BW puffers are generally kept in FW at lfs. This doesn't mean it's right.
