I noticed that some one on here had black mollies in a saltwater tank. I was wondering how one would go about puting them in a saltwater tank, I thought they were fresh water? I would like to add them to my saltwater if possible. I realy like them.

They can be slowly acclimated to a marine environment. I have not done it myself, but I believe over the course of a few days/weeks you can slowly raise the SG of the water. You should be able to find some info on here. Also, I know my LFS will have some kickin around every once in awhile.

I've seen them in SW tanks at my lfs as well. They will live just fine, at least until something eats them.

That reminds me. I wanted to see if my lionfish want to eat black mollies. The black mollies lived in the SW tank for two years until I decided to quit the SW.:perv: Mollies are tolerant of FW, BW and SW of course.

Hi my LFS keeps some salt water mollies seperate from the rest. Ask in your LFS if they have some to sell you. My LFS uses them to help mature any new tank they set up. Mollies breed like hell too so as mean as this sounds they could provide some free food for you other fishes!

It always amazes me why someone would want to go down the route of having mollies in a marine tank, when we have the vast array of colorfull saltwater fish....amazing.....
Probably because he was not satisfied with the SW selection in his area?:grinyes:
