mollies, platies, guppies

I was thinking about getting java moss for both tanks, but they don't sell it around here, and I hate buying plants on the internet. It's expensive, too, on the internet, or the shipping was anyway. At least the places I looked it was.

Endler's live bearers are a relative to a wild guppy. They are found in the wild in warmer water nearer the equator than guppies. They are about 3/4 inch long for a full grown male and a little bigger for a female. They are somewhat threatened in the wild because their natural distribution is small and the water in the area where they have been collected is becoming polluted. They are about as active as zebra danios rather than slower like a guppy so you won't see many good pictures of them that are not posed by confining one to a very small container just to take the picture. A google search will find lots of pictures of them in either large groups or "posed".

What, by the way, is an endler?

You can find good deals on java ferns, java moss, hornwort, and other lo-light plants right here on AC in the classifieds. I've also purchased from mikeswetpets on ebay; he's in the Buffalo area, so it's a quick ship to PA.

As posted, Endler's are related to guppies. Many "Endler keepers" prefer not to let them interbreed with guppies cuz the Endler's are endangered, if not extinct, in the wild.

here's a pic of mine...hard to get 'em to hold still!
also one of my tanks: fluffy stuff on lower right is java moss, upper middle/right is hornwort, water wisteria on the left and red crypts in the foreground...this ones kindof a 'jungle' but I like it that way...the Java moss is now over 4x that size now. This is a standard 10G with a 15W warm white tube, about as basic as you can get.

Your endler's look ready for christmas. LOL Thanks for the pics. They're pretty neat looking.

Did anyone ever have dwarf hairgrass? I was also thinking about that, but wasn't sure about it. I know it's supposed to only get to about 4 inches, but if it has to ever be cut back, I doubt it'll work for me. Is it hard to clean the tank with a groundcover? Is there anything special you need to do to clean it?

Lots of fry

I have an african dwarf frog that is very happy-he gets lots of yummy baby guppies to eat.

Normally people can't seem to keep these guys (frogs) alive is they don't know what they are doing and they slowly starve to death-mine looks like a chubby little sausage and he's great population control.-Just an idea. They are loads of fun to watch.

I do two small water changes a week.
